We strive to be an organization that provides a total logistics service, not just another trucking company.
We work hand-in-hand with our business partners in order to help them meet and exceed their key objectives. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of our customers’ companies — their goals are our goals as well.
History

1980s
Russ Gottemoeller’s vision for Continental Express began in 1976 when he bought his first truck, hired one driver, and set up shop on his father’s farm. By the late 1970s, the trucking industry was not the most attractive field as the market was volatile and the risk was high. However, Gottemoeller took a conservative approach that proved valuable and led to a strong pattern of growth.
By 1984, the business was incorporated as Continental Express and a new corporate facility was constructed in Sidney, Ohio.
At the end of the 80s, Continental was amongst the first 100 carriers nationwide using satellite tracking technology.
1990s
The corporate terminal was renovated and expanded to accommodate a growing operations staff and a fleet of 100 drivers.

2000s
Continental Express expanded from Sidney, Ohio to a second terminal in Louisville, Kentucky. Near the end of the decade, Continental acquired Carolina Refrigerated, which is now Continental’s Gaffney, South Carolina terminal.
The corporate terminal expanded again and a dedicated trailer shop was built and staffed.
2010s & Today
Expansions continued throughout the 2010s and into the 2020s with terminals opened in Danville, Virginia (2011), Fort Worth, Texas (2013), Indianapolis, Indiana (2020), Columbus, Ohio (2021), Fishersville, Virginia (2022), and Chicago, Illinois (2024).
Continental Express pushed forward in technological innovations, creating the CE-GO app, installing iPads in all tractors, and purchasing all-electric spotter trucks
