Continental Express Inc. is a privately-owned, truckload carrier and full-service logistics company that specializes in the transport of temperature-controlled and dedicated-route freight. Our current fleet consists of 520 tractors and 1300 trailers. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee the shop operations at our Sidney, OH terminal. This individual will also remotely oversee shops at six other terminals in the US (Fort Worth, TX, Gaffney, SC, Danville, VA, Fishersville, VA, Louisville, KY, Oswego, IL). The Director will be responsible for leading the team of technicians and administrative staff to ensure efficient and effective repair services, exceptional customer satisfaction, and profitable business operations. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of tractors and trailers, and proven managerial skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversees maintenance shop staff in all facets on multiple shifts.
- Provides leadership and support to Shop Managers at offsite locations.
- Coaches, counsels and administers discipline.
- Assists in setting shop goals for maintenance and safety programs.
- Oversees the management of parts, tires and supply inventories.
- Ensures technicians are employing proper preventative maintenance and repair practices on equipment in a timely fashion.
- Works to maximize productivity amongst his/her group of technicians.
- Manages proper work flow of approvals and payment processing for both internal and external orders.
- Recognizes expense trends and implements cost saving opportunities.
- Coordinates regularly with other personnel at the terminal to maximize equipment availability.
- Participates in hiring of technicians and staff
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Equipment maintenance experience necessary
- 2+ years of maintenance supervisory experience preferred
- Factory training and certification in engine diagnostic software
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
