Last week Continental Express celebrated their 40th anniversary with an open house and Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce after-hours event at the corporate terminal. The evening was marked with refreshments, facility tours, and a closer look at how Continental has expanded over the last four decades.
Nearly 100 members of the Sidney and Shelby County community joined for the event, as well as an additional 80 Continental Express employees and their family members.
Guided by a team of long-term employees, visitors were shown around the terminal. The tours included a live demonstration of Continental Express’ in-house-developed app for professional drivers, CE-GO, and the opportunity to explore the cab of a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck. There were also new refrigerated trailer units on display, showcasing both the technology of the engines and the trailer interior.
A hand-painted mural, created by local artist Mila Hamilton, served as the backdrop to conversation and refreshments served by chamber of commerce member The Bridge Restaurant.
Reaching 40 years is not the only cause for celebration in recent months at Continental.
In June, Continental opened its 9th terminal in Oswego, Illinois, and expanded its services in the Chicago area. The Oswego terminal opening follows several years of steady growth as Continental terminals in Indianapolis, Indiana, Columbus, Ohio, and Fishersville, Virginia opened in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
