Continental Express, Inc. is a privately-owned, truckload carrier and full-service logistics company that specializes in the transport of temperature-controlled and dedicated-route freight. Founded 30+ years ago by an entrepreneur with a vision for dependable service, our company is now a leading carrier across the entire US. We are currently seeking a talented individual with freight brokering experience to help us expand our successful logistics operation into the freight brokerage world. This position requires excellent understanding of the transportation/trucking industry along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and manage relationship with core customers
- Communicate and work with other internal departments to ensure a high level of service to customers
- Post available loads to online load boards
- Make outbound calls to carriers
- Negotiate carrier contracts, including rates and payment terms
- Assign carriers to loads in transportation management system
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers
- Communicate performance expectations to the carrier for each load, i.e. pick-up and delivery dates & times, special requirements, etc.
Qualifications:
- Prefer prior freight brokering experience
- Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work well as a team and work well under pressure
- Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritize work, and pay attention to details
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Prefer candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in business related field
